We all know that New York City is one of the richest cultural districts in the world. The vast array of exhibitions, programs, and hands-on activities make our city an unparalleled resource for families looking for ways to spend quality time together.
Cool Culture families typically find entry fees cost prohibitive--and many are uncomfortable negotiating pay-as-you-wish admission policies. In order to remove financial barriers that often prevent low-income families from taking advantage of cultural institutions, Cool Culture provides each family with a personalized Family Pass.
COOL TOOLS
Armed with Family Time, e-Family Time and Cool Culture Connect, along with the Cool Culture Family Pass, parents and children can critique a Van Gogh or Basquiat, test hypotheses about the laws of science, get their hands dirty in an art project or at a zoo--enjoy a day-long retreat away from the bustle of the City at a botanic garden.
Together, Cool Culture and our cultural institution partners create the access necessary to help parents develop new ways of cultivating and supporting their's child's interests, curiosity, love of learning and the arts.
BRIDGING THE GAP
Cool Culture believes that family involvement in children's education is essential to addressing the achievement gap and that all parents can instill a love of learning in their children.
New York City's museums, botanical gardens, wildlife, and performing arts centers all provide excellent opportunities for families to engage in just the types of activities that contribute to young children's cognitive and language develoment while cultivating new audiences for the arts.
For many Cool Culture families, participation in Cool Culture is the first introduction they have to the City’s cultural institutions.
Our goal is to facilitate literacy and learning through cultural visits and to foster a new population of informed, cultural connoisseurs who will remain engaged long after they have graduated from Cool Culture.
