Cool Culture has had the privilege of working with hundreds of thousands of children and families since our founding in 1999. Just as Cool Culture believes that Culture is Everywhere, so too are the Cool Culture alumni - the cultural audience of the future.
During a Target First Trips visit at the Morris-Jumel Mansion this past spring, we were fortunate enough to reacquaint ourselves with an alumnus whose family participated in Cool Culture when he was a little boy. Grown up now, he is now a regular volunteer at the Morris-Jumel Mansion and became the first alumni member of the "I Am Cool Culture" Club.
For Cool Culture, raising a painted hand is an outward symbol of solidarity and support for learning through the appreciation of culture and the arts.
Individually, it symbolizes that each of us is a part of what makes culture. It indicates that each of us is a connoisseur of culture with our own point of view. Collectively, the I am Cool Culture symbolism represents committed and diverse individuals bound in community and engaged in sharing and honoring our culture, wherever it is found.
This year, Cool Culture will be reaching out to its many alumni to formally institutionalize the impact of 10 years of engagement and success for our families and the Cool Culture program.
In celebration of our 10th Anniversary, we invite Cool Culture alumni to contact us and to assist us in further developing programs and outreach that will benefit alumni and will allow current Cool Culture families to to interact with alumni to and learn from their experiences and insights.
Be sure to check our site often for additional news and updates on upcoming events.
We've identified our 10th anniversary as the launch year for the Cool Culture Museum Mile Walk -- an exciting opportunity to bring together Cool Culture families, alumni, Cultural Liaisons and cultural partners to spotlight our community effort.
