For Educators

CULTURAL LIAISON NETWORK

Cultural Liaisons are the teachers, directors and family service staff who take primary responsibility for connecting participating Cool Culture families with NYC's cultural riches.

Cultural Liaisons work with Cool Culture's program staff to cultivate interest and create excitement about the program; play a key role in engaging parents; and serve as a source of information about Cool Culture programs and cultural institution partners.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Cool Culture's professional development workshops are run by museum educators and professionals with expertise in early education.

Each workshop focuses on a different theme and takes place at some of New York City's best known cultural institutions. This provides education partners with the chance to become familiar with institutions throughout the five boroughs.

We offer professional development workshops geared toward community based Child Care, Head Start and Universal Pre-Kindergarten programs; and workshops for Title I schools.

Basic Workshops

Cool Culture's basic workshops provide educators with the necessary tools to plan parent workshops at their centers and schools and to inspire families to make cultural visits together. These workshops are designed for Cultural Liaisons at child care, Head Start and UPK programs.

Literacy Through Culture (LTC)

LTC is a collaborative project between Cool Culture and Bank Street College of Education that pairs 4 early education programs with a cultural institution partner. LTC provides educators with ongoing technical assistance, brings art making and looking experiences into the classroom, while introducing parents to the educational benefits of cultural participation.

Cool Culture Fair

Cool Culture Fair is a day of workshops and panels bringing together cultural institution partners with educators who turnkey information to families at their programs, used to support child development.
