¡Hola! As part of Cool Culture’s We Are A Work of Art: Health + Wellbeing Initiative, we were delighted to partner with El Museo del Barrio to present a special virtual session of Coquí Club, the museum’s live, interactive bilingual program for the tiniest museum visitors. The event was recommended for children ages 3-6 and their caregivers. Facilitated by El Museo’s Museum Educators, each program highlights different themes and includes a range of activities, from open-ended discussions about works of art and storytelling to movement, music, and art-making projects.
For this Coquí Club session, we explored the difference between loud and quiet, and how we can mindfully navigate what’s in-between. Our journey started with an introduction to the coquí, a tiny singing tree frog native to Puerto Rico, and included an inspirational reading from the book Quiet by Tomie dePaola. The program also incorporated movement and breathing exercises along with an art-making activity. Thank you for joining us!
