PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Cool Culture's Citywide Cultural Access Program partners with schools to provide families with free admission to 90 world-renowned museums, gardens, and zoos throughout NYC! We produce family events and educational materials, in various languages, offering ideas for fun and educational museum visits and cultural experiences.

We also offer 4 professional development workshops to support school staff throughout the year at various cultural institutions focused on family engagement through the arts, including museum gallery explorations and interactive art activities!

In alignment with the NYS Common Core State Standards and the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts, family visits to cultural institutions provide real-world opportunities for children to:

  • Build cultural appreciation and awareness
  • Develop curiosity and new vocabulary*
  • Express their thoughts, feelings and ideas*
  • Ask and answer questions*
  • Make observations, gather evidence, and listen to others' perspectives.*+
  • Access cultural resources that expand their horizons and build content knowledge.+
